OZZYBEE A.KA. OZZYBOSCO WONDERKID HAS THIS TO SAY…

“If you have noticed that your child develops skills much quicker than children of a similar age bracket or excels in a particular area, they may be regarded as ‘gifted and talented”.

‘Gifted and talented’ describes children with the ability or potential to develop significantly ahead of their peers:

  • Gifted learners are those with abilities in one or more academic subjects.
  • Talented learners are those who possess practical skills in areas such as sports, music, creative and performing arts which can be developed into useful careers.

Skills and attributes such as leadership, decision-making and organizational abilities may also be taken into account.

If you think your child is gifted or talented in a certain way, you should encourage, support and enhance their abilities by getting all the necessary things needed to facilitate the development of their natural abilities.

School has a responsibility to meet the educational needs of all their pupils, and teachers should set tasks that take account of the various abilities of children.

If your child is considered to be gifted and talented, you and their teachers should provide greater challenges in lessons, and perhaps offer further opportunities for them to develop these potentials outside the normal classroom timetable.

Giving your talented children tasks in relation to their area of endowment is a way to boost the child’s performances within and outside the classroom. We do not have to discourage our talented children and make them feel that their talents are a waste of time therefore unwelcome in the society. REMEMBER, THE YOUNG SHALL GROW …. You must put that into consideration while giving your child a better and more constructive education to enable him/her participate actively in the modern society at a later age.
